Near Vonitsa
A Phoenician castle
Dominates the town,
Left behind by new by-pass.
There are many fish farms
But no dolphins as before.
Sitting on a bench
On an island covered in pine,
By the lapping water,
I see wild flowers: deep red poppies,
Purple mallow and yellow corncrake.
I enjoy the warm sun
On the bench by the chapel
And the deep blue peace.
